< Back to News21 Jun 2007: Flyglobepsan scales back Liverpool to New York flight
Low-cost carrier Flyglobespan has announced that it is to scale back its Liverpool to New York flight service, less than a month after the operation began, due to a current dearth of passengers.
The direct flights from Liverpool's John Lennon Airport to New York JFK will drop from running daily to operating just four or five times a week when the changes come into affect in around a month's time.
The airline has insisted, however, that it is firmly committed to the route, and will be looking at ways to restore a daily schedule, possibly involving a stop in Ireland.
"Unfortunately, load factors indicate that in the near future we will have to reduce the frequency to four or five times a week. We are currently working out the best way to implement this change to the service," a spokesperson for the airline said.
"At some time in the future, we would like to return to a daily service to New York from Liverpool but our experience would suggest that to make it viable we would have to introduce a secondary stop on the route, similar to our Liverpool John Lennon to JFK flights which fly via Knock in Ireland," added the airline's representative.
Passengers who have already booked ahead on a Liverpool to New York flight which is among those that eventually gets cancelled will be offered the chance to fly on another date or to receive a full refund.
